Palm Pixi® & Palm Pixi Plus® Programming Instructions

These instructions are NO LONGER VALID - PALM has CEASED operations - your phone is a BRICK

Follow these instructions to program your Palm Pixi / Palm Pixi Plus

  • Turn the Palm Pixi on - startup usually takes about two or three minutes - be patient!
  • Choose your language (Tap English or Spanish) and confirm it by tapping the green checkmark.
  • You should see "the name of the biggest CDMA provider in the U.S." at the top of your screen.  PLEASE NOTE: If your Palm Pixi says "Searching..." in the corner, it means it is not picking up the native Page Plus signal, and is therefore NOT compatible with the Page Plus Network.
  • If you haven't already done so, please activate your Palm Pixi Plus on the Page Plus Network through one of the following steps:

    a.  New Number Activation
    b.  ESN Change
    c.  Port your existing phone number from another carrier

  • Before proceeding to the next step, please send us an e-mail using our Contact Us page, and provide us the following information (If you are doing on ESN/MEID change, you can skip this step).  We do this next step for customers that have paid for an activation or port through our website:

    a.  Your Page Plus phone number
    b.  Your Palm Pixi ESN/MEID number

Do NOT proceed to the next step until you hear back from us.

  • When we tell you it is ok to proceed, go ahead and Tap "NEXT" on the "phone activation" popup screen.  It will say "Your phone will now call compatible CDMA company and automatically activate your phone."
  • Wait for the "Phone Activated" success message, and tap the next button.
  • Click the ACCEPT button for Palm webOS Terms & Conditions.
  • At the "Palm Profile" screen, tap the "Create New Profile" option.
  • Finish the process of creating a profile.  Creating a profile is MANDATORY - there is no way around this step.
  • If you are still having trouble, and get a message that says "Sign In Failed," make sure you have a good signal and the words "3G" or "1X" appear in the righthand corner of the screen.  Also, make sure you have a fully charged battery.  IMPORTANT:  Please unplug your phone from your computer USB port or from the wall charger - this will interfer with the programming process, and give a false "Programming Successful" message. Now, complete the following steps:

    a.  Press the "phone" icon at the bottom, and go to the emergency call screen.  Hit the "x" three times (just to the right) to delete the 911.  Then, dial (star) *228 and press "call."  When prompted, press "1" to activate your phone.
    b. When the programming is complete, go back to "Palm Profile" screen, and look in the right hand corner again - does the 3g or 1x appear there now?  If it does, you are in business.  If not, go back to the emergency dialing screen, and this time, type *22891.  This will update your PRL.  After downloading the PRL successfully, look for the 3G or 1x in the right hand corner.

If you are still having trouble, please Contact Us to have your data reset.  In your e-mail, please include your cell phone number, your MEID #, and a phone number that we can reach you on.
  • After successfully creating your profile, continue on with the series of tutorials and short a video (again, there is no way around this).  When the video is finished, the phone may try to reset itself - let it.  When it comes back on, say "NO" to any webOS updates for now - you will have time to update it when your Wifi is configured and turned on.  WARNING:  Updating the webOS on 3G will likely drain all your data, so "Just say NO!" and save yourself some money.
  • You are now ready to use your Palm Pixi Plus!  Whew!  You did it!

The PALM PIXI® is data hungry - how to control it's appetite

To turn your data off (or on), please do the following:

  • Tap the PHONE icon to open the dialer.
  • In the upper left-hand corner of your screen, tap the down arrow that appears next the "carrier name" menu.
  • Tap on the word "Preferences."  Use your finger to scroll down and you will see an option that says "Data Usage."  It is usually defaulted to "ON."  Tap it to turn it off.
  • Additionally, if you want to set your phone to not accept roaming charges automatically, scroll down and click "Voice Netwo..." and click on the option that says "'Carrier Name' Only."

Learning this easy procedure will save your data from continually running in the background.  Repeat the above steps to turn your data back on and enjoy your Page Plus Service!
